چکیده

The study evaluated basil plants’ response (var. Sweet Green) to increased concentrations of sodium chloride (NaCl) and macro- micronutrients in the medium. following variants were used: ½ Hoagland nutrient solution containing NaCl (0, 80 160 mM) 4/2 with 0 mM NaCl. Biometric physiological parameters measured 20 days after saline application. application caused suppression growth. height plants was decreased by 22% length roots less 60%. Control had 68% greater leaf area than those grown medium Compared control, reduced 43.4% 48.2%, respectively. A single plant’s highest fresh weight found control variant (17.78 g) lowest (5.14 g). negative effect on gas exchange salt-treated found. At same time, no influence salinity content photosynthetic pigments addition into did not affect maximum photochemical efficiency (Fv/Fm) but modified actual activity Photosystem II (PSII). Increasing concentration microelements (4/2 NaCl) a significantly lower growth plants.

Effects of nitrogen fertilization on the phenolic composition and antioxidant properties of basil (Ocimum basilicum L.).

Many herbs and spices have been shown to contain high levels of polyphenolic compounds with potent antioxidant properties. In the present study, we explore how nutrient availability, specifically nitrogen fertilization, affects the production of polyphenolic compounds in three cultivars (Dark Opal, Genovese, and Sweet Thai) of the culinary herb, basil ( Ocimum basilicum L.). Nitrogen fertilizat...

Chicoric acid found in basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) leaves

This is the first report to identify the presence of chicoric acid (cichoric acid; also known as dicaffeoyltartaric acid, which is a caffeic acid derivatizedwith tartaric acid) in basil leaves. Rosmarinic acid, chicoric acid and caftaric acid (in the order of most abundant to least; all derivatives of caffeic acid) were identified in fresh basil leaves. Rosmarinic acid was themain phenolic comp...

Effects Drought, Cytokinin and GA3 on Seedling Growth of Basil (Ocimum basilicum)

Priming is one of the seed enhancement methods that might be resulted in increased seed performance (germination and emergence), seedling growth and plant yield under stress conditions, such as salinity, temperature and drought stress. In order to evaluate the effect of growth hormones on morphology characteristics and essential oil of basil under drought stress condition, a experiment was cond...
